Assessment
German cockroaches: Usually observed in the Rooms, kitchens, cabinets, Stores,linen Room & pantries.
(a) Mode of Treatment:
Cockroaches spend little time out in the open places that are hard to see and reach is where they tend to be. Dark, secluded areas near food, warmth, and moisture are preferred so a bright flashlight helps when performing inspections. Emphasis should be on finding and treating preferred harborage locations, rather than randomly spraying baseboards, countertops and other exposed surfaces. If key harborage areas are missed problems are likely to continue.
Method of Application will be as follows-
1. Sprays: When using sprays, target the areas where cockroaches prefer to hide. As mentioned previously, this will vary depending upon the species. Be sure to spray any aggregations or areas with fecal spotting.
2. Dusts: A few insecticides used for cockroach control are applied as dusts or powders
3. Baits: Cockroach baits contain a slow-acting insecticide combined with a food attractant. Pests find and ingest the bait and crawl away to die. Non-exposed roaches may succumb as well after indirectly ingesting trace amounts of toxicant expelled in the sputum and feces of exposed individuals.
(b) Frequency:
Mention the frequency depending on the type of premises/level of infestation.
(c) Pest Management log sheets:
As required will be maintained with details of the chemicals used and areas with date & time of treatment and client signature etc. Inspection card/Progress report (IC/PC) will be generally used in most of the cases. However specially designed log sheets will also be used in some cases depending on the type of client.
(d) Suggestions to clients on Preventive Measures to be taken:
For this treatment to be effective, an integrated approach-
Seal cracks and holes on the outside of the home including entry points for utilities and pipes.
Keep tree branches and shrubbery well trimmed and away from the house.
Keep basements, attics, and crawl spaces well ventilated and dry
Store garbage in sealed containers and dispose of it regularly.
Repair fascia and rotted roof shingles; some insects are drawn to deteriorating wood.
Replace weather-stripping and repair loose mortar around basement foundation and windows.
Methodolgy with Spray:
1. Initial Chemical spray at Floor / Skirting level, washroom drains & entry door lobby, covering the whole area with one round of odorless chemical application.
2. Method with GEL New Technology for Cockroach Control with GEL - Gel Baiting treatment with Fipronil Gel (Kilspot Nova ). It has a cascading effect
once cockroaches eat they contaminate the other roaches thus ensuring complete
eradication of existing roaches. Can be applied in sensitive areas such as electrical
control boxes, kitchen appliances, computers, etc.
No smell, no odor, no need to leave the premises during or after the treatment
No need to empty drawers, cover-up food any special preparation before the
treatment.
3. American cockroaches - Usually seen in the drains, shafts, and basement Stores
Chemical spray with alternative pesticides. Treatment is carried out by spraying
using a pneumatic hand compression Sprayer, with appropriate insecticide, which
diffuses into tiny droplets which penetrate all nooks and corners of premises, thereby
having a much more penetrative effect. External areas, service areas, plant & pump
areas, landscaping, toilets, security cabins, stores, etc. will be sprayed using
mechanical spray pumps with appropriate insecticides.
Precaution Measure:
(a) Sealing of cracks and crevices .
(b) Identifying & Removing the source of entry, source of food .
